Adventure Guide Track Scouts
For the first 15 years, all the routes on Adventure Guide were personally visited, photographed, and documented by founder Josh Martin. This resulted in Adventure Guide becoming the largest and most trusted resource for adventurers looking for the best South Island routes. However, with Adventure Guide growing so large, a new approach had to be adopted to ensure it could continue providing the most accurate and up-to-date information—for both the North Island and South Island. Enter the Track Scouts…
Track Scouts are adventurers with a sound knowledge of New Zealand's track network, who enjoy sharing their knowledge with fellow adventurers through the Adventure Guide platform. Track Scouts play a valuable role in ensuring fellow adventurers have the most up-to-date route planning information, and navigation app.
Nathan Gardiner – South Island (East)
Nathan is a Canterbury-based adventure rider passionate about exploring the South Island’s back country. Through his YouTube channel Kiwi on a Bike, he shares remote trails, local insights, and some stunning scenery that NZ has to offer. As a Track Scout, he brings strong planning skills, community connections, and a love for helping others discover New Zealand’s best adventure riding.
Ian Ganderton – North Island (Centre)
Ian Ganderton is a passionate outdoorsman, and outdoor educator, who thrives on anything adventure related. Ian regularly explores tracks local to his area, and afar. He manages a North Island adventure riding group and enjoys sharing track info with fellow adventurers.
Josh Martin – South Island (West)
Josh Martin is the founder of Adventure Guide and has dedicated 15 years to logging over 2,000 South Island routes, huts, campsites and AdventureTokens. Josh is a Track Scout for the South Island’s West Coast territory. He enjoys unearthing all the hidden trails, and ensuring the West Coast has the most up-to-date information.
Ross Bowden – North Island (Centre)
Ross is a keen adventure rider. While he resides in the North Island and has a superb knowledge of the North Island back roads, he also heads to the South Island each year to explore new tracks. Ross has been generously sharing route information to Adventure Guide long before the Track Scouts came about. His contributions have helped numerous adventure riders plan great trips - both local Kiwi riders, and overseas riders.
